One-page resume templates
9 compact designs with narrower margins and tighter spacing, so more of your resume fits on one page. In our test, Clean Slate held 413 words on a US Letter page, against 305 in a roomier template.
No card needed. Every template is on the Free plan, with unlimited PDF downloads and no watermark.
How the one-page templates read in our parser test
In our test of all 105 OneCV templates on 17 October 2026, one fictional resume went through four text extractors, which do the first step of most resume parsers.
Of these 9 templates, 5 are one column and 4 split the sections into two columns under a full-width header. Every job stayed in one piece in all four extractors for 7 of them. None came out clean in all four. Neutral Gray and Clean Slate were clean in three.
Fitting more on a page has a cost here. Four of the nine compact templates split sections into two columns under the header, and pdfminer moved dates away from their jobs in five. If you’re applying through an online form, set Date & Location Position to Below Title in Customize. It costs a line per job.
When to use a compact template
One page suits students and the first few years of a career. Our guide to how long a resume should be covers what career offices recommend at each stage and how many words fit on a page.
A compact template is the quickest fix when your resume runs a few lines onto a second page. It changes the spacing and leaves your words alone.
If you’re still over, cut before you shrink the text. Shorten old jobs, merge short sections and keep body text at 10 point or larger.
Before you send a one-page resume
- Check the preview for a second page. OneCV shows page breaks as you type.
- Use the paper size the country expects. Switching between A4 and US Letter moves the page breaks, as our A4 vs US Letter guide shows.
- Put your PDF through the ATS resume checker to see the text a parser gets from it, in the order it comes out.
